Back in the day... Jersey and Hunter Lee

Today has been an emotional day, the funeral for Lina's mother was today. It was a sad yet an inspirational service. ... love you Lina.

I went over to Kenny's tonight, as I have done many other Friday's in the past.  Before I even got to the light on Nolensville Rd I felt emptiness sink in -- Jersey wasn't in the passenger seat. Once in the car, she didn't know where she'd end up: being Battery Ln in Oak Hill, Fernbrook Ln In Donelson or 575 Fire Lane Five in King Ferry, NY... she was always up for a trip.
Jersey once was the Queen Shiba of the group, she got love from everyone... that was until the spouses appeared.... who brought the dogs...

Then came the kids... Jonas and Jerse were protected from each other because each held that special title of 'firsts'.. she the first dog...aka "baby"... and he the first baby... aka.... "real child"... still both still were able to share the spotlight... amongst the addition of other dogs (Maddie, Abby, Bell, Festus)....
And along came Hunter... Jersey was jealous at first... then she realized that he's not going anywhere... hence the first photo of Hunter/Jersey bonding... sharing the blanket...

If you knew Jersey you know this was huge for her, to share a blanket/and attention at Uncle Brad's house ... but Jersey caved in and found out that there was love (and food) to get from big brother Hunter.

Miss you baby girl...

Another Sad Day...

I don't know how y'all feel but I think there have been way too many deaths lately.  Now most are not untimely, like Granny Robbins and Grandma Teeter, and even Jersey... all three lived long lives, hopefully happy, and brought joy to the many people around them.  I still mourn for them and am sad that they are gone, but it was time...

Lina's mom is another story, it is just too early for her life to be over.  I know that there is a purpose for everything but why should a person have to lose so many people in such a short period of time?  After all that Lina has been through these past 10 years, she deserved to have another 50 years w/ her momma by her side.  But unfortunately that is not what will happen, instead she will have to settle for all the grand memories that she and her mom had made.  The way Lina talks about her mom, I know that she has millions of them.  I hope that over the next few months when Lina gets sad she will be able to recall one of those memories and make it through the rest of the day, and eventually it will get better and all the joyful memories will out live the sadness....

Love you Lina!

Snow Day...2010

We received snow this past weekend... a lot of it. I left work around noon and the roads were just starting to get bad, especially closer to the house.

After a another failing attempt at starting a fire, I packed up the car and drove over to the Bradley's (slowly, mind you). At first I was a little iffy about the trip when my car first slid in the slush going down the hill in my neighborhood. Then seeing all the other cars slipping and sliding trying to make it up the hill on OHB, was my second thought to turn around... but I trudged on and made it over to Broken Bow Lane in one piece.

I had a great time Friday night, Robin rolling snow trying to build herself a snow man was the big event of the night... that and seeing Brad pass out at 11:30, note picture on facebook. It was a bunch of old friends having a good time.

Saturday morning we went outside and all the cars were covered w/ atleast a 1/4 inch of ice. I've never seen ice like that... it took me 15 minutes to scrape the windows down and warm the car up... then we alled piled in for a trip to Sushi O Sushi... thank goodness for the AWD, I'm not sure we would have made it anywhere if we didn't have the CRV. Go Honda!

After some good sushi, poor service, we went over to Ace to look for something to sled on, and obviously weren't the first set of customers to be looking for winter toys. They sold us some cabinet liner and off we were to go sledding... after a trip to the house to pick up a change of clothes and a stop at the liquor store to restock... we were back at the Bradley's.

Lot's of sledding, well RB and I only went once and I ended up going backwards and doing a couple 360 spins on my way down the hill. Bobby & Brad wore out all the shelf-lining after several more trips down the hill. We finally made it back to the house... for more drinks and a great meal Brad whipped up...

After several card and dice games, we finally ventured back outside to get the snowman put together. It took 24 hours to put him all together but he sure did turn out good!

So welcome Mr. Snowman and thanks for coming around this year. It was a great weekend, and a much needed snow day (or three).
